It's going to come up eventually, so can we all agree…Lego bricks *not* Legos?

Should we expand the LEGO proposal to also include other brick families, like K'Nex and Erector?

Before we get this completely formed, how are we going to address not only the lego one-off video games, but the MMORPG as well? I think that they are part of the universe, but it's worth a vote now. – mfg Nov 15 '10 at 2:17

It's not correct to turn your NXT into a bomb carrier, but hey, you can do it, can't you? (What I'm trying to say is, "not a good example".) I just gave myself another project for my NXT. ;) – muntoo Sep 4 '10 at 20:43

-1 Taken from the Lego Mindstorms Robotics proposal – Eric Aug 5 '10 at 4:24
While it was taken from the Lego Mindstorms Robotics proposal, it does help clarify if Mindstorms questions are welcome as part of this proposal. – retracile Sep 3 '10 at 22:23
We have 3 Mindstorms questions, all by RegDwight. We do need to determine if Mindstorms is on-topic or off-topic. I suggest removing this question and focusing our votes on area51.stackexchange.com/proposals/10919/lego/… instead. – retracile Sep 7 '10 at 16:37

Not a good example: Not specific enough, as nobody can guess what kinds of sets you like. Browse the catalog yourself. – Vebjorn Ljosa Sep 27 '10 at 19:36

I think this too open-ended to be a good example either way. – Michael Kohne Jul 8 '10 at 15:09
I think this is a kind of question that will be asked frequently, but is off-topic. – awe Aug 4 '10 at 7:41

[Sourcing] parts is on-topic as much as talking about building or LEGO-land, in the first case you have a pre-requisite to building, in the last you have how to extend your building experience. However it needs to be a tag and a highly policed one. – mfg Nov 5 '10 at 12:29
@MFG This would probably be reasonable to ask on the site, but for now let's vote it up to 20 so we can fulfill the "5 off-topic questions" requirement. – Mark C Nov 6 '10 at 3:15

I think you're right as 1 community wiki on sourcing parts online should be effective, and posts that duplicate its functionality could be redirected. Sourcing parts IRL would be too regionalized generally and would fall outside the scope of a good .SE question/answer. – mfg Nov 6 '10 at 15:48

"Closed. Not a question" in an instant. – DerMike Sep 3 '10 at 23:20
That's "LEGO" but not what we want. I could say I put a Darth Vader LEGO Minifig on a NASA rocket, by sneaking in, and giving the security guards doughnuts. But that would be a off-topic example... (And it wouldn't be a question, either...) – muntoo Sep 4 '10 at 20:37
Really? That helps/informs me how? – Jason Nov 5 '10 at 1:13
