PRI tends to be more reliable, as it provides a dedicated connection with constant bandwidth from your telephone switch directly to the telephone company of your choice. SIP, on the other had, typically runs across your internet connection, and shares bandwidth with all the other internet traffic. In most business environments, the IP network often subject to outages, upgrades, and contention bandwidth, especially when compared to telephony infrastructure. What SIP gives you in exchange for less reliability is the flexibility to move connections very easily from one location to another. – jsmith May 14 '11 at 11:06

	Why the not a good example? This is common behavior for all polycom and linksys/cisco SIP phones when no SIP registration is made. Can you please explain why you believe it is not a good example? – MaQleod May 16 '11 at 4:53
