Regarding a reduced scope to MediaWiki: I am not in favor of it. But we could emphasise MediaWiki in the description. I think the problem is attention, not the scope of the site (at least not at this time). We need to somehow catapult us out of the Valley of No Attention. – WikiSpeedia hang-around Sep 19 '10 at 21:08

Or "How can I start a wiki at my company?" (rephrase to catch Googlers). – Wikis Aug 24 '10 at 18:58
Part of this is e.g. how to convince management of the worth of a wiki. – Wikis Aug 24 '10 at 19:00

What is a wiki champion? What do they do? Do you need one?
added by Wikis Jul 17 '10 at 7:42

By this a wiki champion is someone who will promote the concept (often in a company) and get people enthusiastic and using it. They will convince management of its worth and will often moderate it (at least in the early stages). – Wikis Aug 24 '10 at 19:00

Aren't wikis dangerous because by definition (usually) anyone can edit anything - how can the content be reliable?
added by Wikis Jul 17 '10 at 7:45

This sounds more like a subjective discussion question with no true clear answer. – Mark Rogers Jan 4 '11 at 19:05
@Mark - well, this was intended to be a newbie question on the subject of wikis generally. Why subjective? I think there are objective answers like, "easy to roll back vandalism". – Wikis Jan 4 '11 at 20:27

I think it's on topic. – Louis Rhys Dec 27 '10 at 2:56
@Louis - can you explain why? – Wikis Jan 15 '11 at 8:16
Because there is Wikipedia which covers just about erverything,. – Benny Jan 16 '11 at 6:35

@Benny - Wikipedia covers a lot but from its own perspective. There are others e.g. wikicars.org/en/Main_Page – Wikis Jan 16 '11 at 7:30
