How do you expect this will/wont interact with (large) existing RC hobby forums? – ajray Jun 28 '10 at 16:18

@ajray: I think it'll be awesome to have an active RC stack exchange; most of the time I ask a question in the forums I end up with two experts discussing a tiny detail of it and no concrete answer. Nevertheless, I think forums will continue to be the place to talk about RC, to post pictures and show what and how you build something. I think we could also use a chatroom, that's why I'm on ##radiocontrol on irc.freenode.com – J. Pablo Fernández Jul 16 '10 at 5:04

I consider this only on-topic because it covers DIY mods. I would suggest that in general pre built "toy" models with no user serviceable parts should be considered off-topic. What do others think? On the topic of IR - should the site name be "remote controlled" rather than "radio" to cover various control transmission technologies? I agree, RF mods make it on-topic. Regarding IR, I don't see any of the boards talking much about it... IR things fall pretty much into the toy category as far as I can tell. – Mark Harrison Jun 3 '10 at 0:57

@Simon, I agree for the most part. An exception could be someone McGuyver-ing a model that wasn't meant to be. Take my question about converting a Hot Wheels or Matchbox car (albeit maybe NaGE really). – IAbstract Jun 12 '10 at 14:15

What's wrong with toys? It's all radio control, right? Might increase user base of the site. Just tag with the correct tag (like "toy" for instance) so hard core modellers can simply ignore those questions completely... – peSHIr Sep 9 '10 at 6:27

	Could potentially be considered "too localised" what if someone asked about allowed frequencies in Timbuktu. That said, it's certainly on-topic, but you could end up with 246 duplicates, one for each ISO country code. – Simon P Stevens Jun 2 '10 at 16:21
