What is the "best" is very subjective, especially when you have to marry an application to a particular business. This is an off-topic-example. But would an on-topic-question be "We are in industry [X] and are looking at packages [Y] and [Z]. The problem though with the SQL related area is that they will help you with the SQL but they don't know the schema of the system. You go onto Stackoverflow and start talking about enterprise systems and how they work and you get no responses. More or less, or you get a negative rating or very little feedback. I just don't see any issues having technical conversations about X or Y enterprise system. If we are talking about coding techniques in SQL or what is the best JOIN to use, then yes...not a good example. But chatting about the design of the system and some samples of what works in relation to the said system, I think would be greatly beneficial to this medium. – Reggie Dunlop Oct 21 '10 at 15:46

I think that it would be appropriate here to discuss table and data layout questions for a particular application so that users could share where to go looking for the information. Once things started getting technical such as query optimization then Stackoverflow would be the right place to go. – NA Slacker Apr 13 '11 at 17:50
