However, this particular proposal seems concerned with the teaching aspect of CS, which is even one more step removed. I'd rather see it broken up into a "general technology" teaching for Primary education (since they really don't teach CS proper), and another site for secondary and post graduate "real" CS that would be much more like mathoverflow. – Adam Davis Jun 3 '10 at 3:30

As a high school computer science teacher, I envision this as very different from the other proposals mentioned (IT fluency, college CS) and as a potentially critically important tool for our community. I'd rather see K-12 separate from post-secondary, though, because I think the challenges are very different. – Hélène Martin Aug 5 '10 at 18:40

Is this intended only for CS, explicitly excluding SW Eng? What of non-degree topics from cert providers; or trainers on method, proc, vendor/tech? – JustinC Mar 12 '11 at 4:32

subjective with no right answer – Good Person Jun 3 '10 at 13:26

Just because there is no right answer doesn't mean people don't have to make this decision. They do, so its a valid question. People posting their arguments, as long as its in a relaxed and groovy manner, will provide very meaningful discussion. – bobobobo Aug 1 '10 at 16:55

While the question is subjective, the asker will end up choosing a language for his or her class, presumably based on these recommendations. I think it is legitimate for the asker to mark the most helpful answer leading to that decision as the "right" one. – Tim Isganitis Nov 9 '10 at 5:34
A question like this would be better if it asked for the pros and cons of each submitted language. Also, is this a Elementary, High-School, or College level class? – oosterwal Feb 8 '11 at 22:15

you should try that by taking a sample class than asking here. Or maybe you could tell them to try it out and ask for votes? :) – Akash Manohar Jun 19 '10 at 13:45

This doesn't seem like a good question. Seems pretty subjective. One person can say its fun, while the other will say it's boring, but there are no facts to back that up. – Matt Jul 27 '11 at 3:23
@Matt Unless, of course, someone has actually done a study of this and written a paper. – Michael Herold Aug 26 '11 at 3:07
