If I'm overwhelmed, I stand there flailing my arms and take quite some time to realize that and 'reboot'. Can I prevent that or speed up the 'reboot'?

Note: I'm not officially diagnosed - this may be non-autistic behavior. – nobody Sep 16 '12 at 3:09
Note2: Might be badly described as well – text field too short & non-native speaker, feel free to rephrase. Longer example for that purpose: Someone talks too fast/complex, expects a quick answer & doesn't stop talking. Input accumulates, I'm overwhelmed / go defensive / start flailing arms over my head. Person usually stops talking, ~5-30(!)secs later I realize my state, stop flailing and 'reboot' – where am I / what happened / …? – taking another 5++secs. Plus, when I realize this will happen soon, it's usually too late to prevent ("STOP! You're too fast!"). – nobody Sep 16 '12 at 3:44
