@Tadeusz: You're correct; perhaps I should rename this proposal 'Knots in Practice' or 'Practical Knots'? – Josh Jan 25 '11 at 21:03

@Josh - or maybe "Knot Practical". =:-) – Wikis Jan 26 '11 at 15:42
I've left the name the same for succinctness, but changed the description: knots → the practice of knots. – Josh Jan 27 '11 at 18:13

added by studiohack Feb 1 '11 at 1:38

Surely you must specify a purpose; some form of bowline may fir the criteria when used as a loop but wouldn't be any good as a bend. Possibly not a good example? – Josh Feb 1 '11 at 17:17
many types of applications require knots that are specific to the application. i.e. using a clove hitch for an application that requires a bowline or vica versa could be disasterous. – Dave May 16 '11 at 21:54
