There could be a lot of questions similar in nature to this, and I think this would be better generalized as, "Is X ethically justified"? – Peter Olson May 23 '11 at 18:51

@Peter Is it bad that the question is similar to others? The question "Is X ethically justified" is very vague, and hence doesn't really show the expert nature of the site, or give any real information about it at all. When you have to actually come up with a real question as an example, it makes you think more about what the site is really about and helps move the definition process along far more than questions with blank variables in them. If this site it going to ever get out of the definition phase, it will need to confront these issues and actually talk about concrete questions. – CrazyJugglerDrummer May 23 '11 at 20:42

@Crazy I suppose that makes sense. I'll rescind my NGE vote. In fact, I'll go as far as to upvote it. I hesitated because these questions (and perhaps most ethics questions) are by nature subjective, but that's not necessarily bad on SE. This question seems to comply well with the SE subjectivity guidelines. – Peter Olson May 23 '11 at 23:57
