How do I encode video so that it will work on DirecTV MediaShare?
added by Robert Louis Murphy May 8 '12 at 23:33

I'm using: ffmpeg -i "path/to/source" -b:v 2400k -acodec mp3 -vcodec mpeg2video -threads 2 -f mpegts -target ntsc-dvd "path/to/destination.mpg" but the video that that generates has no audio when played on DirecTV devices. – Robert Louis Murphy May 8 '12 at 23:35

Is there a way to prevent a child accidentally closing an app on a ___ tablet device?

A similar question was closed as off-topic on SuperUser (superuser.com/q/441929/142759). Does it have a home here? – Craig Young Jul 1 '12 at 17:12
@CraigYoung, what OS is your tablet? (I can't open the question as it is removed) – Jack Nov 26 '12 at 6:10
@Jack It's just intended as a sample question for this SE proposal. It doesn't really matter what particular tablet. E.g. If the question is for iPad, then the answer could direct to new features of iOS 6. If the device is Android based, then the answers might reference a wider variety of third party apps. – Craig Young Jan 2 at 8:59

I'd like a 3DTV. Should I hold out for one that can switch polarization (and use cheap lightweight passive glasses), or is that tech politically dead?
added by Hugh Allen Jan 5 at 22:20

There are 3D TVs on the market that use passive glasses but they sacrifice resolution (each scan line is a fixed polarization). – Hugh Allen Jan 5 at 22:22
