If you're in late position with pocket Queens, and there's a pre-flop bet and a re-raise ahead of you, what should you do?
added by Jaydles Jun 4 '10 at 2:19
link
The problem with these questions is you need allot of details to answer correctly. Pre-flop? Post-flop? Turn? River? What are the size of the raises what is the total amount in your pot, how much do you have are you playing a tournament or cash game. These details need to be in the body of the question to be answered correctly. – David Basarab Jun 4 '10 at 20:02
I lean towards meh - I can't decide either way, it feels on topic, but very vague. – David Basarab Jun 4 '10 at 20:02
@david, added "pre-flop", which I thought I'd included originally. – Jaydles Jun 4 '10 at 20:19

We have to allow for the title of the question to be sort of vague, don't we? Strategy questions will require a detailed explanation of the hand and that explanation should go in the body of the question. Tags (No-limit-holdem, High-stakes) will help the reader figure out whether or not to click and have a look at the question. – D.H. Jun 28 '10 at 11:35
This is the sort of question we need to attract if we want it to suceed. We can't just have a site on the rules of poker, you will have about 100 questions before exact duplicates appear. For this site to be interesting and engaging these are the questions we need asked. – Tom Gullen Aug 24 '10 at 8:34

This one has a lot of off-topic votes. Could people elaborate on why they think that this is off-topic? – D.H. Sep 3 '10 at 21:15
@dh it's kind of too localized, HOWEVER, Las Vegas is such a huge mecca that I wonder if it really is.. – Jeff Atwood♦ Sep 11 '10 at 9:26
FWIW, I intended this as an on-topic, although I'll respect the communty's conclusion. While it changes, it's fairly infrequent, and it's relevant to lots of poker players, per @Jeff's comment. I thought it was a great example of the kind of question that has a right answer, but is extremely hard to find yourself through Google, etc. – Jaydles Sep 13 '10 at 16:34

Prop bets by nature are so varied and with so many extraneous variables these sorts of questions are unanswerable much of the time. – Tom Gullen Aug 24 '10 at 8:30

A better question would be "How do I calculate pot odds?". Still, both of those are very basic, so not very good examples of questions for this site. – D.H. Jun 28 '10 at 12:52

This site is about poker strategy not where to play it. – David Basarab Jun 7 '10 at 1:46
Didn't vote on/off topic, but perhaps a better question would be "What are good resources to find live games?" – meklarian Jun 22 '10 at 8:51

It's not clear that the site is about just strategy. StackOverflow allows questions regarding the "environment" of programming so I think that a this site should allow questions about the "environment" of poker. – D.H. Jun 28 '10 at 8:12

Since I suspect this proposal is intended for "proper" ring poker games (Texas Hold'em, 7-Card Stud etc.), I'm just adding this question so that the community can decide whether games played against the house rather than against other players are on-topic or off-topic. – Dan Dyer Aug 19 '10 at 17:30

Similar to hand analysis, but since it's a whole session it can't really have a good answer. I would say that a video of a single hand (how did I play this hand?) is on topic while a video of a whole session is not. – D.H. Sep 1 '10 at 18:54
