What is the sign for [books] in [ASL]?

This might come under "general reference" which some sites decide to add as a reason to close questions. – hippietrail Dec 9 '11 at 11:58

@hippietrail: Perhaps, though it could be broadened to asking "How do you express plurality in [ASL]?" – Nightfirecat Dec 13 '11 at 0:20

added by hippietrail Nov 7 '11 at 21:17

Oops I meant to ask this about Auslan because I had heard a couple of things suggesting so but when I typed the question I put ASL by mistake - sorry. – hippietrail Nov 12 '11 at 16:40

Are there people outside of the Netherlands I can practice NGT with?
added by LaPingvino Nov 5 '11 at 15:04

I feel like this question is poorly worded; I feel like it would be better asked as something along the lines of "Is NGT practiced outside of the Netherlands?" – Nightfirecat Jan 16 at 21:18

Are there workarounds that have been devised to allow ASL signers missing an arm to continue to sign with some degree of effectiveness?

Might be relevant to mention what sign language this applies to - I'm fairly certain it doesn't behave the same way for every sign language. – Nightfirecat Dec 13 '11 at 0:18

What is the grammar structure for ASL?
added by Nightfirecat Nov 18 '11 at 18:21
link|flag
This is probably too general. It would be better to ask about individual points of grammar. – hippietrail Dec 9 '11 at 11:59
Probably true. Maybe a similar question that would be better-targeted would be something along the lines of "What sentence structures does ASL utilize?" – Nightfirecat Dec 13 '11 at 0:17
You could ask about the equivalents of word order, inflection, syntax, morphology, etc... – hippietrail Dec 13 '11 at 8:18
Yeah, but once you start getting too analytical, it starts being more about the linguistics of sign language, rather than the practical function of the language itself. In any case, I'm just putting this up here, since every question helps to figure out which questions are better or worse to be posted on this proposal. – Nightfirecat Dec 19 '11 at 9:48
