Am I exempt from any city taxes if I live in Brooklyn?
added by streetchalk Jan 19 at 6:35

No, you still have to pay city income taxes. The five boroughs are part of NYC for tax collection with a rate maxing at about 3.6%. Brooklyn, Bronx, Manhattan, Queens, and Staten Island are considered. I was going to vote this down for being easily google-able; except its surprisingly difficult to find it expliticly said. Indirectly in the instructions of the IT-201 they say on page 13 "if you live in new york city; please use the following county: Bronx - Bronx; Brooklyn - Kings; etc" – dr jimbob Jan 20 at 22:26

Why is this Manhattan specific? – Spencer Kormos Jan 19 at 19:22
I'm thinking the question can't just be "Does my recycling get recycled." Needs a qualifier. I suppose "I live in Manhattan" is enough. – SamTheBrand Jan 19 at 22:09

All NYC subway apps seem to be based on static timetables. Why can't I find real-time MTA train info?
added by SamTheBrand Nov 10 '11 at 17:28

You're presuming the MTA has that information... mta.info/mta/news/releases/?en=091224-NYCT203 They've got it for busses though: bustime.mta.info/… – drewish Jan 19 at 20:55
They give developers a static file based off of a Google spec, which is refreshed at intervals. It seems static because it is! – Moshe Jan 22 at 22:50

This question is not a good fit to our Q&A format. We expect answers to generally involve facts, references, or specific expertise; this question will likely solicit opinion, debate, arguments, polling, or extended discussion.

I might be interested in knowing safe / unsafe areas, but the "most dangerous" just seems like trivia. – David Fullerton♦ Jan 23 at 21:48

Which of the East River bridges is the most difficult to jog across?
added by SamTheBrand Nov 10 '11 at 16:51

This could be good as long as the question is detailed enough to make it objective, not subjective. (i.e. "here is what makes a bridge difficult to jog across - traffic, length, lane organization, etc) – Abby T. Miller Dec 12 '11 at 15:51

It's difficult to tell what is being asked here. This question is ambiguous, vague, incomplete, overly broad, or rhetorical and cannot be reasonably answered in its current form.
