Upvoting? This question probably doesn't need more. We can select maximum number of questions by upvoting those who are still got less than 10 upvotes. – Dipan Mehta Apr 9 '12 at 5:25

How to embed metadata (or custom tables) with MPEG2 transport stream (MPEG-TS)?
added by Dipan Mehta, edited by WikiSpeedia hang-around Jun 22 '12 at 16:35
link|flag
Is this a duplicate of Rich's question? – blueshift Apr 1 '12 at 15:13
Very close but not exactly. Creating Custom tables needs to be done more specific - where as, private data can be little more general use. There are projects which attempts to send pure general purpose (e.g. internet traffic) over the MPEG2 TS. So it is more generalized question over this one with probably different utility in mind. [BTW: i asked the question prior to him - but that question (which is broader) got upvoted more. A good sign! – Dipan Mehta Apr 2 '12 at 3:57

This question is valid - but the differences are so much. We should rather be specific and formal in the question. – Challenger Mar 27 '12 at 13:59

I'd compare to h264 or vp8 – lu_zero Aug 3 '12 at 2:41
in broadcast media mpeg4 refers to h264 in contrast to mpeg2video. in web, mpeg4 usually refers to mpeg4 visual, popularized with divx and xvid decoders – Aviad Rozenhek Aug 3 '12 at 8:51

That question isn't too meaningful in my opinion. It's not possible to do that without all sorts of other information: what encoding technology was used to encode the video? How is it formatted in the byte stream ... and so on. – liamf Mar 22 '12 at 10:04
yeah man but its just a question, it didnt let me write the description cause, as you can see, these are proposals. thanks anyway – Anonymous Mar 23 '12 at 19:31

As a question it is only marginally less vague than "How do I make video work?" – blueshift Apr 1 '12 at 15:19
I think the jist of the question is more of - how does depacketization and demultiplexing of stream would work (and may be also of timing if it deals with PCR) - when data is received from a TCP socket as opposed to ASI or UDP/IP socket! – Dipan Mehta Apr 3 '12 at 12:43
