I'm curious as to why people think this is a bad question. My doctor told me this and it seems like something and first aid giver should know about so they don't risk the person's life. – animuson Dec 6 '12 at 16:59

While it is important to know such information, this seems off-topic as it requires no knowledge of first aid to answer, nor any technique or skill to practice (i.e. to actually call emergency services). – bosco Apr 24 at 21:46

@bosco I agree that most other questions here are more relevant, but part of giving first aid is making sure the correct emergency services are notified, so I think the question is on-topic. – THelper Apr 25 at 12:08

In an emergency situation information is everything. I totally agree that this question is on-topic. – RSFalcon7 Apr 26 at 9:17
@THelper, @RSFalcon7 I could certainly roll with your line of logic - fair point (comment up-votes all around!)! If not off-topic though, could we not agree that this question shows little research effort? The point in my mind is that the SE platform is not a search engine, and I feel that questions that aim to use it as such demean it. I would much rather medical practitioners spend time answering legitimate questions than c&p-ing numbers from Google. If not a vote to close, I think the question certainly deserves a down-vote as user's up-votes are better utilized elsewhere. – bosco Apr 26 at 22:46
Off-topic but noteworthy: you apparently can't revoke a close vote? – bosco Apr 26 at 23:05

Why are breaths in CPR less important than they used to be?
added by Cody Guldner Apr 21 at 15:39
link|flag
Aren't they? I think they are still important, especially when doing CPR on a child – THelper Apr 25 at 11:41
I have been recently taught that compressions are much more important in the process of CPR – Cody Guldner Apr 25 at 11:43
Perhaps it's me, but your question seems to suggest that breaths are not important anymore. If the "as" in your question means "less important than they used to be", then I agree. Compressions are more important than breaths, but breaths are certainly not unimportant! – THelper Apr 25 at 11:57
