+1 - Great question. But keep in mind that this, like my example, is also subject to the opinions of the masses, using your argument. :) Clearly, this site will target the more subjective questions, since people by their very nature are subjective beings where there isn't always going to be a one size fits all solution. – jmort253 Jul 19 '12 at 0:52

I would strike the "Is this term offensive?" part. That's very subjective and very split. It's offensive to some and not offensive to others, and would only turn into arguments. – animuson Aug 28 '12 at 7:49

This question is not a good fit to our Q&A format. We expect answers to generally involve facts, references, or specific expertise; this question will likely solicit opinion, debate, arguments, polling, or extended discussion.

This seems like a poll for opinions and wouldn't lead to constructive answers. – maple_shaft Nov 15 '12 at 20:54

To all the people who upvoted this: questions like that are the reason this site may fail. It is NOT AT ALL a good fit for StackExchange sites, as the only answers will be subjective opinions. Please vote to close or flag. – DVK Jan 28 at 4:29
I have tried to ask a similar question below (might be worth shifting up-votes there) which would be a better fit ofr Q&A, both in terms of narrowing the question and asking for objective evidence. – Chris Travers Apr 26 at 3:44

Since the goal is to define the site topic, it would help if the person who downvoted could clarify. The topic does include relationships. What's missing here? I'm assuming "too subjective" and am editing... Thanks. – jmort253 Jun 28 '12 at 4:03

How do i make someone else live how I want instead of how they want is never a good question. – Chad Jun 29 '12 at 14:02
Hi Chad, thank you for the follow up. "Make" and "help encourage" are two different animals, and the question is focused on how to help a loved one avoid a downward spiral or pattern of abuse, which is something that could come up, since the site topic covers "relationships". – jmort253 Jun 29 '12 at 14:30
I feel like this question would be innapropriate even for Q&A site dealing purely with relationships. I dont think this question has a concrete answer but it would instead start a discussion because: a) there is no single list of best steps that a person can take and b) people can interpret healthy relationship in multiple ways and have different opinions how to achieve that sort of relationship. If you asked this question about non-violent or more equal relationship it becomes a more concrete question. – Xitcod13 Jul 9 '12 at 10:36
@Xitcod13 - Thanks for the feedback. Assuming that the real question asked on the site would have lots more details, is there anything from your perspective that could make this more constructive? Should I make it clear that I'm looking for "expert" information, not opinions, or is that assumed by the nature of this being a proposal for a SE Q&A site? Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks again! :) – jmort253 Jul 10 '12 at 4:51
