Lego Mindstorms Robotics

Proposed Q&A site for both new and experienced users of the Lego MINDSTORMS robotics kits (NXT, RCX, WeDo, etc). Other users could include the Mindstorms Developer Partners, and various developers of both hardware and software for the Lego Mindstorms robotics platform.

We need to have some off-topic questions – Eric Jun 11 at 14:20

I would have better read a real Lego Q&A site than a specific Mindstorms Q&A one. Indeed, as AFOL community grows, there are more and more groups about specific Lego tricks (like SNOTS ones). I believe changing this group from Mindstorms specific to full Lego universe would raise far more interest. – Riduidel Jul 1 at 10:02
1
@Riduidel: Perhaps. However, the AFOLs in the mainstream area which you speak may have little to no grasp of electronics and computing, which the larger proportion of this proposal is about. Also, I fear that the number of non-robotic lego questions you can ask is limited. Mainstream lego is more about showing off ideas, rather than finding out information. Just my two cents – Eric Jul 7 at 20:11

Well, OK, I now understand the difference between both. However, there will always be corner cases (like, say, creations by sariel - the first one I'm thinking about - who make use of all the lego things he can). – Riduidel Jul 8 at 7:32

There are a proposal for general Lego. It might be better to use this with tag mindstorm instead of having a separate site for Mindstorms. – awe Aug 4 at 9:00

Which sensor is your favorite?

No, that's a "great off-topic example". The question is too subjective, and it's the kind of question we don't want. There's no right answer. Don't confuse "not a good example" and "great off-topic example". Hover over them for a more detailed description of what the options mean. – Eric Jun 6 at 7:56

I'd say that this is a rather subjective question, and therefore is an off-topic example. – Eric Jun 6 at 7:01

Personally, I think this kind of question would be off-topic since it is subjective and at some point the question will be moot - you can't get the 1.0 set anywhere anymore other than second-hand. – afanofosc Jun 9 at 14:29

Good question. A lot of people have trouble with that. – Eric Jun 6 at 7:02

It might be better to say "how can I get my NXT to turn on - all it does is softly click" A lot of people may not know what SAMBA mode is. – afanofosc Jun 9 at 13:59
