Do not use the comments to answer the questions! Remember, Area 51 is to discuss the example questions and determine the site topic. – jmort253 Aug 16 '12 at 14:43

I guess, such questions related to cheminformatics can also be covered in this proposal. "Bioinformatics and Beyond" is also about CompChem. – Chirag Aug 16 '12 at 14:58

Please explain the concept of functional genomics and what the goals are as it's applied to Alzheimer research.

Hi @Chirag, please don't use the comments to answer the questions. The point of the comments in Area 51 is to discuss whether or not the question is on-topic for the proposed site. You'll have an opportunity to answer questions if the site topic is defined and moved to beta. Please see the faq for guidance, and consider deleting your above comment. Good luck! – jmort253 Aug 16 '12 at 14:40

@jmort253 Okay, thanks for informing. I have withdrawn my comment. – Chirag Aug 16 '12 at 14:52
This question comes within the domain of this proposal because "functional genomics" is a subset of Bioinformatics to a large extent. Additionally, it would be very interesting to discuss specific topics like Alzheimer's Disease. – Chirag Aug 16 '12 at 14:55

This shall be the right place to discuss topics related to in silico prediction of Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics (DMPK). Computational Biology/Chemistry is very common in early phase of pharmaceutical drug discovery research and I guess many researchers might be interested in this. – Chirag Aug 16 '12 at 15:03
