Probably better to have this question as: where can I find a summary of hardware platforms that support Contiki and lists there capabilities. And the answer would be: we need a page on the wiki that summarizes the hardware platforms and capabilities :) – Mariano Alvira Aug 5 '12 at 19:40

Well, the question could be rephrased to something like "I'm new to Contiki, is there a getting started manual?", but it REALLY IS important for people googling to reach that how-to easily. It's sort of the Contiki Hello World. You wouldn't want to mess with anything else without having done that... – Sébastien Dawans Aug 7 '12 at 22:30

This kind-of makes sense, it's not a question someone would ask, they'd just read the page on the wiki. This is fairly self-explanatory, imo. – Matthew Wilkes Aug 8 '12 at 15:54

People ask how to get started with Contiki all the time. Getting and running Instant Contiki is actually the best way to do this (as the answer that was removed explained). Perhaps if it wasn't removed we wouldn't need this discussion because it would be more obvious. – Mariano Alvira Aug 8 '12 at 23:59

I know this has nothing to do with Contiki but I feel that many users could use some advice on how to use sniffers when they transfer their setup from COOJA to a real physical network. This question could point to existing solutions based on Motes, RZUSBSTICK, ZENA, etc... – Sébastien Dawans Aug 6 '12 at 8:41

I agree fully --- the scope of this to be Contiki and everything you need to use Contiki (sniffer, hardware, etc...) Should the scope be larger? Mesh networking as a whole? Include other networking embedded OSes? other PHY layers? – Mariano Alvira Aug 6 '12 at 18:45
