Should the name be changed to reflect more than aquarium, as the word aquarium seems to be somewhat self limiting?

How do you measure fish length when determining "1 inch of fish per gallon of water"?
added by foocode, edited by Robert Cartaino♦ May 13 at 19:24

I don`t know who downvoted this question... please, justify using the comments, so that the author can improve it (perhaps). After some time we'll need questions with 10 upvotes, and downvotes don't help with that... – woliveirajr Nov 7 '12 at 17:16
I think this question is important with regards to the rule of thumb of 1 inch of fish per gallon of water in a freshwater tank. I know that rainbow fish, for example, are genrally low load and only count as maybe 1/2 to 2/3 their actual length. – Octopus Mar 28 at 6:14
Hi, yep, that's what spurred the asking of the question. If it's a 'nose to tail' measurement, that is different from 'tip to tip' - especially when talking about fancy goldfish or swordtails! Should this proposal take off, it might be nice to pick one as the standard. – foocode Mar 28 at 10:29
I think the questions should be readable to persons not using US or imperial units. Please put in brackets SI units, like "1 inch (2.54 cm) of fish per gallon (3.78 l) of water" – Voitcus yesterday

Maybe even more details like how CO2 helps the plants, why is it important for the aquarium and how to monitor it would be helpful. – yohlulz Feb 17 at 0:29

@yohlulz Maybe you could add those as example questions, setting up and effects of already working system are different questions anyway. Also remember to vote up good example questions (this proposal still requires 20 questions with at least 10 upvotes), voting really helps to get this proposal up and running :) – Sampo Sarrala May 26 at 18:34

I don't know the mechanics of what gets released at death, but an answer that also reflects the difference in effect from a small to a large tank would be excellent. – JohnP Feb 7 at 17:23
