what are some good strategies for Short selling? [closed]

closed as not constructive by Robert Cartaino♦ Apr 10 at 14:08

This question is not a good fit to our Q&A format. We expect answers to generally involve facts, references, or specific expertise; this question will likely solicit opinion, debate, arguments, polling, or extended discussion.

Hi Vivek, try to think of a problem someone might face in short-selling. Just asking for strategies is a bit broad for a Stack Exchange site, and is likely to be closed as not constructive. If you can think of a problem one might face, edit your question with that instead. Good luck! :) – jmort253 Sep 10 '12 at 4:47
Look up Timothy Sykes. He has taken short selling to an art form. – Frank Tudor Feb 5 at 17:37
@jmort253 agree with you, questions like this will rather be closed in 5 minutes. Now my input is: if the markes is up buy more, short less. If the industry of the stock you are seeing is down, its probably a good option for shorting. Always compare your stock with index and industries and check on the intraday for a good entry. – Luis Valencia Munoz Apr 10 at 12:16

I've bought shares in a company that have dropped. However they do dividend and have money else where in other businesses. Advice?

Asking for advice is generally not well suited to SE sites, which expect specific, answerable questions. – ashes999 Nov 7 '12 at 12:01
I was just proposing an example question – TeamGB Nov 8 '12 at 9:31

Which currency pairs are better suited to scalping strategies in Forex -- majors or cross-pairs?
added by ashes999 Nov 7 '12 at 11:59

Since this is currency related and not 'stock' related, it would make sense to find a better stack area 51 project or considering pioneering one. Let's keep it stocks only. :) – Frank Tudor Feb 5 at 17:44
I have proposed that this area51 site be merged witth the stock trading area51 site, and that the name should be changed to cover a bigger umbrella, something like: Stock, Options, FUtures and Forex Trading. At the end technical trading its the same for all and strategies are valid for all. Only fundamental concepts are different – Luis Valencia Munoz Apr 10 at 12:17

Take a stock like $F, $AOL, or $TEF, their P/E's are in the 2-3 range right now. How important is P/E relative to other ratios?

Why does the SEC make it so difficult to access financial data?
added by boulder_ruby Nov 19 '12 at 2:16

I am not sure I understand. I have always thought it was the exchanges themselves that made it difficult. I have never had a problem getting data. Maybe you are talking about something more specific? – Frank Tudor Apr 4 at 20:16
