Perhaps "*What* is the difference between curl and wget?" would be a better question. – Keith Thompson Sep 25 '12 at 4:25

I wouldn't consider vim a command line tool. It is a full-fledged application (namely, an editor), which just happens to run on the terminal instead of a GUI. – celtschk Oct 15 '12 at 9:02
Maybe not a command line exactly, but so often i process data through, sed, awk, to a file, open it in vi, run some macros, :wq (ZZ) and perhaps execute the file as a script. Vi is so fast to open and close that it's a bit like shell interactive mode. – alex Jan 11 at 4:11
I'd really like to know the answer to this. /[hH][eE][Ll][Ll][Oo] is a pain in the ars... isuppose /hello/i might wwork. Must try on my Nondroid. – alex Jan 11 at 4:19

Is there a way for Bash to send the external commands to another program like GDB instead of the operating system (so it acts as front end to it)?
