Suggestion: It would be better if the question was more specific about the type of 'benefits' the question is talking about. – Mark Rogers Jan 11 '11 at 18:17

I think it's off-topic for many reasons: too general (any technique from any style), "most effective" (subjective), and more importantly, this looks more like "I want you to help me hurt somebody" instead of "I want to improve my technique". – Barthelemy Oct 7 '10 at 9:59

How many press ups should I be able to do at [whatever] rank?

My sensei/sifu is the most ninja-ist in the west, and he says that anybody who can't do 3000 press ups is a weeny. Is this true? – slugster Jun 8 '10 at 9:52

I don't see what press-ups have to do with one's martial art ability (or lack thereof). – ire_and_curses Jun 12 '10 at 2:07

This question is way too vague. Are you talking about an obi in karate-do, Iaido, Kyudo? You could be talking about a dress kimono. – Ali Aug 5 '10 at 16:13
It is too vague, but on-topic and vague. This is useful; at the site someone would demand clarification. – Tynam Nov 24 '10 at 11:24
@Tynam: This shouldn't be in our top 5 on-topic qns. – Charles Stewart Jan 16 '11 at 19:23
its the type of question someone is going to ask as its a noob question. Might get phrased in any number of variations, I started karate and was shown how to tie my belt but now I've forgotten, help! + there are some cool variations on how to do it – Keith Nicholas Jan 28 '11 at 3:35

How often should I train per week?
added by Keith Nicholas, edited by WikiSpeedia hang-around Oct 4 '10 at 21:01
link
Has to be off topic (subjective) - there are too many variables at play: the type of training, the physical capability of the practitioner, their rank in their particular art. – slugster Jun 24 '10 at 9:18
This is not off topic, its a bad question. A better version of this might be "I want to get to [national|international|x-grade] level in [x-art] in [x-amount of time]. How often should I train per week?" – Ali Aug 5 '10 at 16:15

Personally i think this needs to be reworded. "Should I be using software to help me run my school?" is an unanswerable question. "what are some good options?" could very well be on topic. – slugster Jul 21 '10 at 11:19
