What are the symptomatic differences between a viral and a bacterial infection?

Good question for the proposal, but you might need to either ask the question in the broader sense (there is an answer for that), or narrow it by specifying the location of infection (there is another specific answer). – Orion Apr 21 at 19:16

How to increase the level of melanin?
added by Dundee Oct 15 '12 at 16:17
link|flag
in my opinion this question doesnt fit, because its related to beauty more than health, – md nth Dec 6 '12 at 4:17
1
This question seems on topic since melanogenesis is a real medical process. The question simply asks how to increase the levels. It does not ask why or to what benefit or even what melanin is. The purpose (e.g., beauty or health) for this sort of knowledge is only relevant if it affects answering the question (e.g., different ways of increasing levels depending on whether it is for beauty or health). Just a thought. – jiminy Feb 21 at 21:11

good question but ,the question form is bad – md nth Dec 18 '12 at 20:46
@mdnth: What's bad about the form? How would you rephrase the question? – unforgettableid Jan 14 at 0:54
the reason for this question "the choice",if someone has the chioce "does'nt want",he ll treat both, but if you make it obligatory then it will be very convincing,eg nonavailability of drug,or side effects for long term use – md nth Jan 14 at 14:31
@mdnth: I don't understand. But anyway, how would you rephrase the question? – unforgettableid Jan 15 at 0:23
1
@mdnth: Personally, I have onychomycosis, but I don't want to treat it. Too much hassle for a non-guaranteed cure. I also have tinea pedis and do want to treat it. I recently bought some tolnaftate spray to use against the tinea pedis. – unforgettableid Jan 17 at 1:49

I wonder during what part of its course the common cold's most infectious. In which book can I find an answer to that question which cites its source?
added by unforgettableid Dec 18 '12 at 20:16

This should be pretty easy to look up... – Gyuri Jan 31 at 19:11
@Gyuri: I did look it up. I had trouble finding an answer which cited its source, but I finally did find such an answer -- written by Gwaltney JM Jr and Halstead SB. I added the answer to the last sentence of the "Transmission" section of the "Common cold" Wikipedia article. – unforgettableid Feb 1 at 0:57

So, I guess your real question would be: what book I can look up the infectious period of the common cold in? :) – Gyuri Feb 1 at 18:57
@Gyuri: Dr. Schoenstadt didn't cite his source. But you're right about my real question. Touché. I have edited my original question. – unforgettableid Feb 6 at 0:50
