What is an insulin pump and how do I get one?
added by Charlie Rust Nov 12 '12 at 21:24

Maybe the question should be "should I get one"....instead of "how do I get one" – mdpc Nov 19 '12 at 21:37
Convincing a health insurance provider is not always easy, so the "how" part is still interesting. – frafl Mar 10 at 21:12

This could be better stated as "Can I do <activity> if I have diabetes? If so, what care should I take?" – Renan Oct 25 '12 at 16:30
I wanted to keep it with respect to a newly diagnosed teenager (not that it matters). Do you think it is not necessary to state such a think? – robthewolf Oct 25 '12 at 17:49
It might be interesting to state that, too. – Renan Oct 25 '12 at 18:47
I think if you are going to leave in the age element of this question it would be useful to frame an additional question around dx and physical activity, as this is a common issue all people need to address post-dx – David Cragg Nov 13 '12 at 16:53

or how do you convert between the different units of measurement – David Cragg Nov 13 '12 at 16:59

I am now under control, but my weight has increased rapidly why?
added by mdpc Nov 13 '12 at 17:49
link|flag
Good question. This relates to the relationship between insulin and the metabolic process. Insulin intake is directly associated with converting excess energy intake into stored body fat. The more insulin the more fat. Whether you have diabetes or not. You can lose weight by lowering your carb intake and thereby your insulin intake. – drnewman Dec 27 '12 at 22:03

Is it dangerous for someone with type 1 diabetes to dirnk alcohol?
added by robthewolf Oct 25 '12 at 16:02

Personally I would prefer this question stated as "Is it dangerous for someone with type 1 diabetes to dirnk alcohol?" rather than using the term diabetic as some people can be upset with that terminology. Take a look at table 1 (page 3) here diabetesaustralia.com.au/PageFiles/1584/… for more information on what I mean. This is applicable to the Type 2 version of this question too – David Cragg Nov 13 '12 at 17:26
corrected the question to what you suggested thanks – robthewolf Dec 27 '12 at 12:10

I don't really understand what this question is getting at. Can you explain. Also try to frame your questions in a way that they might be helpful, I am unclear on what the answer to this question might mean to an individual. – robthewolf Nov 12 '12 at 22:25

1. I presume you are refering to HbA1c results – David Cragg Nov 13 '12 at 16:55

2. Would it be better to frame the question around what the target HbA1c ranges are for PWDs (to aim for) compared with the normal range of someone without diabetes? – David Cragg Nov 13 '12 at 16:56
