Are there any other technical standards apart from the IEC one that pertain to SCADA?

I would probably rephrase it as follows: "Are there any other technical standards, apart those from IEC, which pertain to SCADA? – Mathieu Harvey Feb 8 at 18:25

What is the difference between EPICS record type an analog input (AI) and analog output (AO)?

I would rephrase it as follows: "What is the difference between an analog input (AI) and analog output (AO)?" – Mathieu Harvey Apr 3 at 17:35
Fair enough, though the distinction is carried into other record types as well (stringin, stringout, and so on). – dmckee Apr 3 at 18:06
How about "What are the main I/O data point types used in SCADA?", which would also describe the differences between digital inputs and outputs ? – Mathieu Harvey Apr 11 at 15:51
I am personally using EPICS in particular and really care about the conventions of that community---which may different than most SCADA systems because EPICS arose in the nuclear particle physics community and has only gently cross-fertilized with other systems. – dmckee Apr 11 at 16:52
Hum... then, should the mention of the EPICS context should be part of the question? – Mathieu Harvey Apr 22 at 15:12

This question is not a good fit to our Q&A format. We expect answers to generally involve facts, references, or specific expertise; this question will likely solicit opinion, debate, arguments, polling, or extended discussion.

"What is the best" questions are not very adequate for Stack Exchange. – Renan Jan 28 at 14:09
Agreed. Please see the explanation under the close reason. – Robert Cartaino♦ Jan 28 at 16:17
