Firearms: Which caliber of gun do you suggest for [deer hunting] ? If it was "Which minimum caliber of gun do you suggest for [deer hunting] ?", I would say it would be closer. |

Firearms: What are possible dangers while trying to reuse spent casings? @Geoff There is no argument that the question needs editing for context, but it is not an off-topic question. |

Firearms: What are possible dangers while trying to reuse spent casings? @Geoff Don't forget the questions are tagged. The implication is reloading IMO. |

Firearms: What brands of self defense ammunition does/doesn't work well with <firearm>? @Geoff This is true, so maybe a more appropriate question would be "Has anyone had problems with [ammo] feeding in [firearm]?" |

Firearms: I have an old [model] rifle that I cannot find a parts list for, the stock screw sheared, what do I need to replace it with? Why would this be voted off topic? |

Firearms: What brands of self defense ammunition does/doesn't work well with <firearm>? I think this is a great question, particular models can be horribly finicky. |

Firearms: Is the Obama administration really going to take my guns away? @Stu Follow-Ask Off-Topic/Goofy Question-Unfollow = Ask Off-Topic/Goofy Question ... I think if the question is off-topic vote as such an move on. I kind of see your point, but I think it is much more meaningful later in the process. Perhaps in the commit phase, ONLY followers and commits can have a say? |

Firearms: Should I teach a beginner who wants to learn defensive shooting to use the Weaver stance or the isosceles stance to start with? @quack @Geoff In my opinion self defense and techniques with regards to shooting are on-topic. It IS more of a discussion type question which are generally discouraged, but it happens. |

Firearms: Where can I find good steel plate targets for use with pistol caliber handguns and carbines? @quack @Geoff I don't think there is any issue discussing brands, personal experience with a product, or comparisons of different products IMO. See: stackoverflow.com/questions/24216/… |

Firearms: Should I use FMJ or HP ammunition for personal defense? @Good Doesn't this question relate directly to firearms and ballistics? I don't see why we wouldn't want to have self-defense questions. CC/open carry implies self-defense, and so far the votes on those topics are voted up. Please clarify where you think that line should be drawn, I would be curious :) |

Firearms: I would like for my wife to carry for personal protection. What would be a good starter that can easily be concealed in a purse? Dude, @Geoff, chill. What if the conversation went something like "Honey, you have a dangerous job, have you ever considered some form of self defense?", "I have but I am not sure where to look.", "Well I could toss out a question on the stack?" "That would rule, thanks sweetheart"...Geoff, you cannot know what the basis of the question is, we are not here to defend the honor of anyone, we are here to answer good questions. |
