My computer experience predates the modern computer. In fact, I first learned keyboarding on an IBM Selectric typewriter which was the standard for 1970 as computers were not used for training purposes as they could cost as much as $250,000 for one and a computer such as the one used in a bank took up an entire floor of the bank. I started computers at the age of 16 with a 6 month course in IBM Keypunch. I finished the course in 6 weeks, was offered a position as an instructor, then promoted to the position of Jr. Executive of the data processing firm and given my own office. I also worked as the data processor and verifier as well so I quit hi-school and went to work instead of school. I was the first and only person south of San Antonio TX to operate the first machine with on board memory. That was the 5496 Data Recorder. My first modern computer was an IBM 286 20 MGHz with 1 MGB RAM, it had DOS 5.0 & no windows. I upgradad to 2 MGB RAM and DOS 6.22 and installed windows 1.0, then upgraded to Windows 3.0. I have owned just about every version of windows except servers editions. I also dual boot with Ubuntu studio 8.10 and am in the process of upgrading to Ubuntu Oneric 11.10 Studio Edition. I also have used Suse Linux, PCOS Linux, FreeBSD UNIX and several other flavours of Linux of which I am partial to. After all. who can load a web page on a windows box in less than 1 second!!!
