Islandora : How do people handle indexing collections that use a metadata format (like MODS) differently? Do you use modes in the MODS XSLT or some other method?

Islandora : Can Solr be run on a different server from GSearch? I know GSearch/Solr can be put on their own server, but can GSearch be separated from Solr?
