A long time ago I did procedural programming in Pascal, Perl and PHP3, before moving on to some Visual C++ and Java. After several years in the wilderness (actually a project manager of technical projects) I am returning to coding things myself, to skill up and make sure I know the latest developments in patterns, anti-patterns and best practise generally.
I've been a big fan of Joel Spolsky's blog for many years and meeting him recently (in London, UK) encouraged me to become an active member of StackOverflow.
