Hate to edit the proposal without checking, but I would propose inserting the word "Video," at least into the description. It will prevent debates about the appropriateness of discussing Boggle, Ur, or Beer Pong. – Jaydles Jun 1 '10 at 20:35

I'm not sure if we would have to start excluding those questions right from the start. Look at gamersqna.com, smartergamer.com and gamelegend.com. All three gaming site, are they flooded with Facebook or iPhone questions? No, because Modern Warfare and World of Warcraft kick their asses. "Gaming" is way too generic. It can also mean gambling. It can also mean tabletop roleplaying/strategy/board games. "Computer and Video Games" would remove all doubt. – Al E. Jun 2 '10 at 15:47

I don't know that specific console questions should be allowed if console peripheral questions are not. For example, if you can't ask about connecting a hard drive to a console, why should it be okay to ask about versions of a console? This really somewhat depends on context. For example, you're allowed to set up your own dedicated server for games like TF2, but this could also pertain to illegal private servers for MMORPGs and such. In asking this, I was referring to the latter. – Corey Jun 4 '10 at 2:37

Although it may be cool to think you could play against PC gamers or even PS3 gamers, in reality I doubt it would ever work. The difference in hardware between a console and a PC would create an uneven playing field. This problem is bad enough in PC gaming. I would hate to see it spread over to console gaming too. – marcnicol Jun 2 '10 at 12:43

	@dbo - depends on the level of expertise required, I think. I'm not sure exactly what macro are for WoW, but probably something more simple than an actual plugin. Plugin development would probably be better suited on SO, but macro is probably closer to asking "how to bind commands in team fortress 2" – Gnoupi Jun 8 '10 at 12:21
	keybinding and writing macros are different in WoW. In WoW you are actually writing commands - basically creating a set of commands (actions/attacks/spells) to activate when the appropriate key is presssed. Macros are written within the game itself. I would ask a question like this. I have multiple consoles but not all of them, mainly because I can't really justify (even to myself) having them all. I have a 360 for me, a Wii for the kids. I'd love to have a PS3 also, but don't see the point because of my 360. If people start explaining differences enough to me I might just go out and get a PS3 (but don't tell my wife!) – squillman Jun 2 '10 at 2:05

Since the title alone lacks detail, this is actually a question I’ve been meaning to ask on Superuser (but gaming is banned there). Gaming sickness (and on Wikipedia) is a condition that occurs in up to 40% of gamers, most prominently in first-person shooters and can be triggered by a wide range of visual clues. The symptoms range from slight dizziness to vomiting depending on the person and the game. Needless to say, it considerably lowers enjoyability of the games. – Konrad Rudolph Jun 2 '10 at 8:35

Personally I get the feeling it would be better to ask the WoW questions on EpicAdvice, simply to stop them from spamming the homepage AND because they DO have a community in place. However, I wouldn't ban questions just because they're about WoW – Ivo Flipse Jun 1 '10 at 20:55
