Launched Q&A site for software quality control experts, automation engineers, and software testers.

Announcements

This site will allow anyone interested in QA at any level of experience ask any QA related questions from methodologies to tools. – Todd Bumbarger Jun 9 '10 at 17:13

What is the difference between Cyclometric Complexity and Essential Cyclometric Complexity
added by Tom Carter Jun 17 '10 at 7:06
link
I find the question "not a good example" as it is asked because it sounds like wikipedia or a book could be the answer. It'd be more interesting and on-topic if it asked the impact of these on product quality or how to go about surfacing complexity issues with testing. – Turker Sep 16 '10 at 0:14

I believe reviews/comparisons of tools would be helpful as long as they are done in a neutral point of view. – chills42 Jun 21 '10 at 15:36

I'm installing [big expensive tcm/stress/metrics package] and getting error [blah blah] - how do I fix it?
added by Aaron B. Jul 21 '10 at 3:40
link
I think this sort of question should be allowed, because some tools don't have their own healthy user forums. And if a tool does, then "Go check out the [url for big expensive package] forums/tech support resource" is an easy answer. – Lizard Aug 3 '10 at 20:54
1
If it's big and expensive, it probably has a forum or support. However, the question may be more valid for the "second tier" products or open-source projects. – Alan Sep 5 '10 at 17:45

This question was added twice, unclear how. I answered a 'Human Being' dialog, but have no re-collection of submitting the question twice. Either a functionality bug, or a usability issue (that I won't investigate further...) – Rikard Edgren Sep 16 '10 at 9:13

this question is too opinionated – John Nelson Jun 2 '10 at 16:45
I would agree with John. The tool itself is a matter of opinion and need. No one tool is 100% perfect and, depending upon your individual needs, one tool may be better than another. – TristaanOgre Jun 2 '10 at 17:36

This one is too specific. General data reads from a variety of sources may be more in keeping with something of general interest. – TristaanOgre Jun 2 '10 at 17:37

I don't think you can be too specific, because if the question is specific it is more likely to have an answer. – John Nelson Jun 2 '10 at 18:12

Too mjch "it depends" in here. Some context in the question (is the question about test management or results?) would make an answer to a question like this more actionable. – Alan Sep 5 '10 at 17:44

Is software quality assurance the same as software testing?
added by b.roth Jul 28 '10 at 15:55
link
I'm hoping that this proposal is concerned with software quality assurance (which encompasses software testing and other things such as software maintainability, evolutivity, robustness, performance etc). I get the impression its seen rather as a Testing question and answer site :-( – Tom Carter Aug 4 '10 at 15:48
It should be known to all that these are not the same. A better question is 'what does quality assurance consist of more than testing; and vice versa' – Rikard Edgren Sep 16 '10 at 8:30
