This is subjective and argumentive! – Ivo Flipse Jun 3 '10 at 12:12

Philosophy itself is basically a series of debates of ethical issues and morality. How can it be a Q&A site if there are no answers? Just a lot of questions and a lot of debates. The only things that can be answered are history questions, which is the really boring part of philosophy. :( – Corey Jun 5 '10 at 8:38

@Corey Sarnia: Philosophy is not about just ethical issues and morality. It's also about pure reasoning. I personally would love to see a site where someone could post: "Help me strengthen this thesis" or: "Help me find the holes in my argument" and answers would be provided by users with a background/talent in logic & reasoning. I could definitely see the benefit. – Dan Tao Jun 15 '10 at 12:30

Why does Slavoj Zizek talk so much about Stalin, but not about Hitler? Is he afraid of Jews or it is just non-mainstream populism trick?

This kind of joke are for nerds who think that their knowledge in formal logic make them "stronger" than philosophers. Geek references are what they call culture, with a great contempt against classical culture. Not only offtopic but also pollution. – Mael Aug 2 '10 at 14:23
On the edge of vandalism...but would make an excellent Never ask a question like this... example in the FAQ – Rusty Sep 3 '10 at 19:06

Yes, it measures the amount of time it would take to answer this question :) – Tim Post Jun 15 '10 at 11:30
Depends on your definition of "exists". Now THAT would be a real P question – zvolkov Jun 17 '10 at 20:22

What is life?

This actually has a fairly specific definition: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Life. Are you asking about some of the more ephemeral qualities of life, such as connectedness, universality and self-consciousness? – Robert Harvey Jun 3 '10 at 4:16
This is an example - I purposely didn't convey anything more specific. – Nathan Osman Jun 3 '10 at 4:21

42. This also answer the Universe and Everything. – Massimo Jun 3 '10 at 20:42
The question needs to be more specific. What does it mean? – Casebash Jun 5 '10 at 4:41
@Casebash - this question is deliberately broad and vague. Remember, you don't need to answer this question, just decide if its a good example of an on or off topic question. – Tim Post Jun 15 '10 at 11:34

I'm basically voting down every question that I can only imagine being asked by a man with a bong in his hand. – Satanicpuppy Jul 6 '10 at 21:49
This is fundamental question. It should be upvoted. Why do we exist. – scope_creep Aug 1 '10 at 23:04
