How can HorribleSubs manage to release subbed anime episodes consistently within an hour of the air time?

@netvope You should ask discussion questions in the discussion section and not in the comments. – karategeek6 Sep 15 '11 at 18:00
Thanks! I've moved them to discussions – netvope Sep 16 '11 at 3:29
@netvope - Questions on discuss.a51 should be about the proposal in general, not questions on the topic itself. – Dori Sep 19 '11 at 8:14
@netvope Area 51 isn't supposed to serve as a replacement (temporary or otherwise) for an actual SE site. Given that, though, you should also keep in mind that SE sites are—purposely—designed to discourage discussions. – Dori Sep 21 '11 at 8:49

I have not voted but I wonder why this is off-topic. It would be nice if someone can explain. – netvope Sep 14 '11 at 20:32

This should be "not a good example" because it's Too Localized and a list question. It would be unacceptable everywhere, not just this site. – Matthew Read Sep 15 '11 at 15:43

Is there an anime version of [series title]?

Isn't it too easy to just search? There's My Anime List, Anime News Network and Wikipedia that can surely tell... – Kirby Jun 7 '11 at 3:18
@Kirby I would assume that the asker of such a question would have already searched and be unable to answer the question. I would expect the body of the question to start with something similar to "Google has failed me here.". – karategeek6 Sep 15 '11 at 22:02

Is there a full version of [anime name]'s OP?
added by archaeme Jun 2 '11 at 22:49

Don't know whether it is an on-topic or off topic question to ask. – archaeme Jun 2 '11 at 23:32
This isn't a very good example because it is probably easily answered by simple Google searches (except in rare cases, in which it is an okay on-topic example, in my opinion). – rintaun Jul 13 '11 at 0:32
Being easily answered by Google doesn't make it not a good example. Some people search Google for an answer, and maybe Stack Exchange is the site they come to. – DanBeale Sep 14 '11 at 16:43

This question does not relate to the topic of the proposal.

This is off-topic. It's about anime, but is not a good fit for SE questions - there is not a factual answer, just subjective opinions. – DanBeale Sep 14 '11 at 15:54

This is actually NGE, rather than off topic. As you admit, it shouldn't be asked on any SE site. For a question to be off topic, it first has to be a good example of a SE type question. – karategeek6 Sep 15 '11 at 21:55

Why reason did [anime voice actor] give for leaving voice acting and only doing live action movies?

Hypothetical question designed to gauge how the community feels about questions which only relate to anime secondarily. I know what I think it is, but I'll hold off commenting and let the community speak. – karategeek6 Sep 18 '11 at 4:24

Proposed off-topic – Garet Claborn May 18 '11 at 5:33

This is a subjective type question. Some will and some won't. – archaeme Jun 3 '11 at 3:26
1
If the question asked more about why or why not someone is going to a convention, it would be a better question. Still off topic, just a better example. – karategeek6 Jun 9 '11 at 1:07
3
@karategeek6 Even if it were reworded to "why or why not", it would still not be a good example. Not only is there no actual problem to be solved, but also, the question is open-ended and subjective. If it were "What are the benefits of going to [convention]," then it might be approaching a decent off-topic example. – rintaun Jul 13 '11 at 0:35

Someone suggested I watch Naruto. I said has too many episodes to catch up on. He said "watch it from the jump." What's a "jump"?

This question is very vague and doesn't give any context. "Jump" can mean many things. Can you please clarify it? – rintaun Jul 13 '11 at 0:16
Okay, hope that helps. – Louis Jul 30 '11 at 13:25

I have seen 'Jump' in anime context as well, and I am also/really wondering what it means... :) – Veger Sep 13 '11 at 11:30

It's difficult to tell what is being asked here. This question is ambiguous, vague, incomplete, overly broad, or rhetorical and cannot be reasonably answered in its current form.

This is highly speculative and cannot be answered – Veger Sep 13 '11 at 11:24

Not a good example, it would not belong on any SE site. – awesomeguy Apr 27 '11 at 21:54

The type of question wouldn't be specifically belong to any particular site but it's a perfect example of subjective and argumentative questions. To me it's a great off-topic example. – Alenanno May 30 '11 at 17:56
3
@Alenanno To be a great off-topic example, a question first has to be a good example of the type of question asked on SE. In my opinion, this question fails that criteria because it is subjective. So while it is a great example of a bad question, a bad question is not the same as on off topic one. See the discussion at discuss.area51.stackexchange.com/questions/1600/… a more in depth treatment of the topic. – karategeek6 Jun 2 '11 at 3:37
1
@Alenanno Someone being bound to ask a question does not automatically make it a good example. However, let's consider what will happen when someone does ask this question. Will it get closed as subjective? If the answer to this question is yes, then it is not a good example. Only if the answer is no can we talk about on or off topic. Remember that off-topic doesn't mean questions that shouldn't be asked but rather, more along the lines of questions that should be asked somewhere else on SE – karategeek6 Jun 2 '11 at 13:02
