This is actually a pretty neat question - not sure why there are so many down votes. This is just another way of looking at global atmospheric patterns. – naught101 Oct 15 '12 at 2:40
@naught101: Thank you – Everyone Oct 15 '12 at 17:22

An answer might be based on atmospheric circulation patterns, but the question is worded much more broadly to include engineering and human endurance. As such, it is one of transportation and exploration - i.e. off-topic. It could be made on topic. Something like: "Do atmospheric circulation patterns allow for a trans-polar circumnavigation of the Earth using a balloon?" – winwaed Oct 22 '12 at 14:00
@winwaed: Well, Everyone (that's a terrible username, btw) could just remove "a human in" to make it match your suggestion. – naught101 Nov 1 '12 at 0:36

I've taken the liberty to edit the question according to @naught101's suggestion. – gerrit Jun 26 '13 at 11:14

What data formats do you find most useful for marine meteorological data and why?

Perhaps this could be considered too subjective. – Melanie Sep 18 '12 at 5:36
yeah, re-write as "what data formats are commonly used in the study of marine meteorological data and why?", and then it'd fly. – naught101 Oct 15 '12 at 2:39

How can I validate a model

That is one freaking huge question right there. This is probably just as suited to stats.SE, and I think it'd be closed there, at least without a lot more detail. "model" is very broad. – naught101 Oct 15 '12 at 2:35

You can spend a lifetime trying to figure that one out. Or fifty lifetimes. – gerrit Oct 17 '12 at 9:57

Well, poo to them. Nice answers there, thanks for pointing it out. – a different ben May 22 '13 at 4:23
I think this should be off-topic here. – Tomas Aug 9 '13 at 20:54
