Which SD cards (sizes and brands) are compatible with a Raspberry Pi?
added by Highly Irregular Apr 5 '12 at 0:37
link
Not sure why the downvote. Cameras which take SD cards don't work with just any old card; they usually specify a maximum size. They may even give a list of supported brands (and you mightn't get support if you have trouble using something not on the list). – Highly Irregular Apr 10 '12 at 9:56

What is the power consumption of the Raspberry Pi, with and without using each of its processors?
added by Highly Irregular Mar 16 '12 at 18:45

Why the downvote? Surely this is especially important if you want to run one on batteries. – Highly Irregular Apr 6 '12 at 19:28

How can I set up a Raspberry Pi as a collaborative screen-sharing device?
added by jandjorgensen Mar 16 '12 at 19:15

Why the downvote? Too general? It seems until the devices are in users' hands that it's hard to be super specific. – jandjorgensen Apr 9 '12 at 1:10
Not sure how this isn't a fitting question if this is a top one: area51.stackexchange.com/proposals/37041/… – jandjorgensen Apr 9 '12 at 1:12

Where can I buy / purchase a Raspberry Pi?
added by Jeff Apr 6 '12 at 21:41

I think this is appropriate, given that there are currently only 2 retailers offering the product. – Highly Irregular Apr 12 '12 at 10:49

my opinion on this is that.. most if not all people coming to this stack will have purchased a RPi themselves and will be looking for answers.. very few prospective buyers will come here for that easily available info.. since that when they'll google for it.. they end up on the RPi website most evidently..and not here.. – marc-andre benoit Apr 12 '12 at 22:25

I disagree. There is also the possibility that Stack Exchange may generate interest in the RP. I believe it's a fundamental question for people who have visited SE without knowing much about the RP. – Highly Irregular Apr 16 '12 at 0:35
One of the things I am still confused about is how to purchase BitCoin, and I find that even the answers on the stack site don't help me much. I came across bitcoin through that board having no idea what it was. Another thing I was wondering, would it be problematic to ask localized questions like this? For example "Where can I buy a Raspberry Pi in Canada?" – Jeff Apr 16 '12 at 2:01
DId you find this one? bitcoin.stackexchange.com/questions/91/… You could trying asking in the bitcoins meta site if that doesn't help, to ask for extra help – Highly Irregular Apr 19 '12 at 8:42

This question is not a good fit to our Q&A format. We expect answers to generally involve facts, references, or specific expertise; this question will likely solicit opinion, debate, arguments, polling, or extended discussion.

I'm boggled as to why this is at the bottom. Isn't teaching the main purpose of the machine? – Inaimathi Mar 4 '12 at 13:57
I feel like this is (arguably) a little too subjective. There are so many possibilities that it I would think it hard to accept one answer. I'm neither voting up nor down on this question. – Gaffi Mar 16 '12 at 19:25
Its also at the bottom as there is a bit of a positive-feedback effect on the questions near the top of the page - they attract voted because they are near the top. I added some of those and being a techie they glossed over this side of the product (sorry). I hope people start to read and vote for these lower questions as we have to reach 40 with a score of 10 to proceed. – iandotkelly Mar 26 '12 at 19:41
This is more of a conversation starter for a discussion forum than a Stack Exchange-style question to solve a specific problem. This would not make a good fit on an SE site. – Robert Cartaino Apr 4 '12 at 13:24

Just software and a network connection of course. Then you need the software depending on which services you want to provide. I'd recommend you Arch Linux as OS. – Tomas Mar 4 '12 at 19:15
i'd disagree and tell you to check for a netbsd port instead :) – marc-andre benoit Mar 15 '12 at 5:18
