How do I decide whether to use Arduino or Rasperry Pi for my project?

These two devices are so different that it's hard to answer that question. One is a credit card sized Linux computer, the other is an entry level firmware / electronics kit. – kingcoyote Feb 8 '13 at 18:35
1
This question if rephrased could turn out to be constructive. For example, for a specific application, where both may be used, there such a comparison makes sense. More so, as the cost is also similar. – AsheeshR Feb 11 '13 at 17:04
1
@Hakonbogen Rephrase it to "How do I decide whether to use Arduino or Raspberry Pi for my specfic project ? (Body will contain project description, and/or analysis of choices)" – AsheeshR Feb 12 '13 at 7:54

Any more votes for this question do not help in taking the proposal forward. Have a look at the other questions as well :) – AsheeshR Mar 15 '13 at 9:58

How do I work out which Arduino variant is best suited for my project?
added by kingcoyote, edited by Mark Booth Feb 8 '13 at 11:25

To users who think this might be non-constructive -> Arduino boards have varying characteristics which are different enough that such a question might have a correct answer. As an example, if I want to make a device that is the size of a wristwatch, the correct answer would probably be a Lilypad. – AsheeshR Feb 3 '13 at 3:27
That doesn't make it not not constructive. NC doesn't mean useless. NC means that it's asking for a recommendation :/ – Manishearth Feb 7 '13 at 17:29
If question is well stated, answers will involve facts, references and specific expertise, and might as well cause debate and polling. IMO, its fine. – AsheeshR Feb 8 '13 at 9:04
3
Prefixing the original question with "How do I work out " makes this question much more constructive. – Mark Booth Feb 8 '13 at 11:26

@Jules The questions on this page are just examples of questions that users would want to see on the site. This space is not for answering them. Once the site is launched, only then does the answering begin! You can however upvote questions, seek clarifications and post your own to speed things up :) – AsheeshR Feb 22 '13 at 5:24

How to use other IDEs than Blink to program my Arduino?
added by Haaakon Jan 18 '13 at 8:57

I may be confused, but what is the Blink IDE? The software I install from arduino.cc is just called the Arduino IDE, and there is a very common, basic tutorial called Blink. – kingcoyote Feb 8 '13 at 20:52

The question is actually typical from Arduino beginners, I have faced this precise question in one artists workshop. – Anindo Ghosh Feb 10 '13 at 6:30

Voting to close as it conflicts directly with the Electronics StackExchange charter. – Anindo Ghosh Mar 22 '13 at 15:46
If you have voted for this question, then you can undo your upvote and use it for another question. This question is off-topic as per the discussed scope of the site. – AsheeshR Mar 22 '13 at 15:49

What's wrong with general instructions how to minimize power consumptions? – Jakob Feb 20 '13 at 15:45
@Jakob General instructions for what ? Which circuit ? What components ? There are infinitely many possibilities for answers. – AsheeshR Feb 22 '13 at 5:26
General guidelines such as "*Use TimerOne.h instead of delay() for blinking*" are often all that a new Arduino practitioner is seeking - Many projects I see are essentially self-contained in an Arduino board, with perhaps a few LEDs or a motor or two attached. – Anindo Ghosh Mar 6 '13 at 8:19
