Do you mean what purpose did they have to the people or what purpose did they play in the pantheon? – kuwaly Aug 19 '13 at 16:30
@kuwaly Celtic Gods in the Greek Pantheon? First time I hear about that. ;) Anyway, I added the words "to the people" to my question to avoid any confusion. Thanks for the heads-up. [+1] – e-sushi Aug 19 '13 at 16:36
@e-sushi Pantheon refers to any set of Gods in a specific mythology. I was talking about the Celtic pantheon, not the Greek one. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pantheon_(gods) – kuwaly Aug 19 '13 at 16:45
@kowaly My bad... got it now. All I can say in my defense is that it was early in the morning and I didn't have my coffee yet while writing that comment. :) – e-sushi Aug 19 '13 at 17:50
@kuwaly - Your link is messed up and does not have a closing bracket in the link itself. – Ernesto Nov 17 '13 at 6:16

possibly turn into a list question, try to avoid these. – Young Guilo Apr 6 '14 at 15:45
I'm sorry, could you please elaborate your comment a bit? – Ashish Kulkarni Apr 7 '14 at 5:24
it would be a list of every culture that didn't have a sun/earth deity. – Young Guilo Apr 8 '14 at 1:51
I'm with @young guilo on this one. This question isn't a good fit for the SO format. – Styphon Apr 19 '14 at 10:54
It's not just about sun/earth deity. There are several cultures that have rain-gods, wind-gods, and so on. I am not expecting a list. I am looking for a neat answer as to how did these cultures differ from the conventional cultures having nature-based deities. Which cultures had more abstraction in their culture. – Ashish Kulkarni Apr 19 '14 at 11:02

This is a very broad question. There are going to be a lot of similarities and a lot of mythologies, and covering "all" is going to be difficult. – kuwaly Aug 20 '13 at 23:05
Yes, this is a very broad question but people can answer it in fragments. I mean covering one or two cases in one answer or something like that. – Tarsemsingh Aug 23 '13 at 6:42

people can answer it in fragments is going to make it a list question too. Which is also off topic in SE's – Ankit Sharma Oct 11 '13 at 6:35
