How near are we to forward (source to eye) realtime raytracing using GPU(s)? Are there any examples at very low resolution that give some indication?

This is largely hardware and graphics API dependent. I would argue that this question isn't a good fit because there isn't one "right" answer... – Mokosha Nov 28 '13 at 14:48
I'd like to see this question asked in a specific context. As it stands it is too generic. – githubphagocyte Mar 13 '14 at 19:42

What exactly is a "GPU Boost"?

This question is about consumer-oriented graphics card features; I'm not sure how appropriate this question is. – AbigailBuccaneer Nov 28 '13 at 12:00

I think that it would be appropriate if it's asked from a technical point of view. – Dan the Man Dec 16 '13 at 18:37

The proposal description includes "specific graphics cards questions". If this question were to reference a feature of a specific card, line of cards, vendor, etc., then it would be more appropriate, as well. – cww Dec 17 '13 at 10:44
I imagine the site dealing with technical questions about how the GPU works, and practical questions about how to apply the GPU to both graphics and GPGPU parallel processing. I imagine acceptable questions will be at a variety of levels ranging from abstract graphics algorithms to the practical workings of a graphics card as both will be relevant to decisions taken in graphics programming. My only criticism of this question is that it is not specific. It suggests the asker has not yet done a generic internet search for GPU Boost. – githubphagocyte Mar 13 '14 at 19:39

What are the pros and cons of using 2d or 3d for Isometric video games?
added by Érid Nov 28 '13 at 16:22

What kind of pros and cons? Performance wise or gameplay wise? If it is gameplay, it would be off-topic. – Dan the Man Dec 23 '13 at 12:39
I meant performance wise, also regarding maintenance and implementation. I guess the title is not well redacted. – Érid Jan 2 '14 at 18:58

Is Ray tracing best method available for having reflection of one object on another and transparency for object such as glass?

I think the question isn't focused enough. The answer is going to be "it depends on what you mean by "best" ". – heishe Dec 14 '13 at 22:33
@heishe what i wanted to mean by "best" is that, what are pros and cons of ray tracing among all the available methods wrt reflection, transparency . – Nick J Dec 16 '13 at 11:25
Still, it would have to be more specific. Best as in speed, accuracy, or quality. – Dan the Man Dec 16 '13 at 18:40
Or maybe "In what situations is raytracing still the only viable method"? – githubphagocyte Mar 14 '14 at 22:29
