I want to learn specifically Moroccan/Maghrebi Arabic. How can I get locals to help me with their dialect rather than "proper Arabic"?
added by hippietrail Dec 2 '13 at 5:45

Downvoted because I should only learn MSA?? – hippietrail Mar 18 '14 at 15:03
Just Ask them to do so. – Mahboubi Salim Apr 15 '14 at 21:49
Mahboubi Salim: I did try that a lot. They always said things like "No no you must learn proper Arabic!" or they just try to think of the MSA to teach me and don't even tell me it's not what they would say. – hippietrail Apr 16 '14 at 1:31

Important question. In Canada it is very hard for an Anglophone to learn Acadian French (a variety of French in eastern Canada). Esoteric dialects are pertinent. – Patrick Sebastien May 22 '14 at 11:14

This sounds like something that belongs on a travel blog really, not sure if it is specifically fit for discussion of the Arabic language in general – Sammaye Jul 27 '14 at 17:22

Very general question. Would be difficult to answer. – Patrick Sebastien May 22 '14 at 11:15
this is a good question, but I am voting to close as overly broad. – مجاهد May 25 '14 at 16:50

For plural (male and females) what pronoun will be used?

This sounds like transliteration services really instead of someone showing they comprehend Arabic but require help with it. What makes it too broad as well is that it doesn't state the persona (2nd/third person) or whether you mean nouns or verbs. This would seem like a very broad question for transliteration services in that case. – Sammaye Jul 27 '14 at 17:18

Can you give me some good bibliography/references for me to learn Arabic?
added by An old man in the sea. Aug 18 '14 at 14:24
link
Normally questions for tools/references out side of SE is not allowed but I think we need to make an exception here, as a learner myself it is really really reeeaaaaallly hard to choose the right dictionary (still have not) – Sammaye Sep 1 '14 at 21:34
@Sammaye, what is the logic of not allowing references to resources outside SE? Most all of SE forums allow that... By the way, which dictionaries do you use? – An old man in the sea. Sep 2 '14 at 22:22
One reason is because normally they contain link only answers: meta.stackexchange.com/questions/8231/… advertising and other sentiments: meta.stackexchange.com/questions/139008/… – Sammaye Sep 2 '14 at 22:43
@Sammaye Ok. thanks ;) – An old man in the sea. Sep 3 '14 at 9:32

What is the difference between the usage of 'Rasoolahu' and 'Rasoolihi'?
added by user112920 Jul 8 '14 at 4:55
link
'Rasoolahu' would be used when it is in the state of "nasb", for any reason that words become in the state of "nasb" (such as for example if it were the object of a verb). But if it was in the state of "jarr" because of any of the reasons that put a word or phrase in the state of "jarr" (such as if it were preceded by a preposition or was the possessor in a genitive clause), then it would be "Rasoolihi". How the proper way to type Arabic with keyboard?
added by hepidad Jul 14 '14 at 15:52
link
This seems a bit broad since there are so many keyboards and OS' have their own keyboards as well, i.e. do you mean under Windows (Domestic/Server/Data Center/Mobile)/Linux (Android/Ubuntu/Debian/etc) or Mac (iOS, Mac OS, OSX)? It seems this would be a hugely opinionated question as well in its current form – Sammaye Jul 27 '14 at 17:11
