Can watching porn reduce your attraction or responsiveness to real partners? Does this affect men and women equally?
added by Nerrolken Nov 3 '14 at 23:20
link
Attraction can change. Reduction and increase of attraction to different real partners is to be expected, so you're asking about one part of a big problem. – Karasu Nov 11 '14 at 13:41
2
True, but asking about the whole problem would probably be too broad. There have been plenty of studies on this topic to allow for objective, informative answers, and it's exactly the kind of thing that people would want to use this section to ask. Thus, example question. :) – Nerrolken Nov 11 '14 at 17:04

This should probably be two questions. But +1 anyway. – Flimzy Nov 30 '14 at 1:51

There are 7.125 billion correct answers to this question. – Flimzy Nov 30 '14 at 1:54
There are 7.125 billion answers to what feels best, but there could easily be a more precise answer from a biological, "number of nerve endings" sort of angle. I don't actually know, (it's not just an example question, it's a genuine curiosity of mine), but even if not, "it's different for everyone and there is no rule" would be an acceptable answer. – Nerrolken Dec 1 '14 at 17:11
1
@Flimzy how so? He is talking about things like nipples, which for many can become erogenous zone. Not too broad, however it's not really possible to give accurate answer since each person is sensitive in different parts. All in all, fair sample question in my opinion. – Shadow Wizard Dec 3 '14 at 11:07

I feel compelled to mention that depending on untying knots as a safety measure in this scenario is NOT a safe choice. Can you rephrase the question to ask for the safety considerations during bondage, rather than types of knots? – James Jenkins Nov 8 '14 at 21:12

Why is Masturbation less healthy than sexual intercourse while both of them finally cause ejaculation?
added by slikkd Nov 20 '14 at 19:22
link
1
You are making an assumption here, which many would disagree with (that masturbation is not healthy) - this would move the focus away from the real question and attract off topic answers about the (what others might treat as) false statement. – Shadow Wizard Nov 23 '14 at 14:46
if that seems off-topic, when the "Sex and Intimacy" site has gone live and joined the other sites, "Masturbation" can be added as a tag so that answers won't be off-topic. – slikkd Nov 25 '14 at 8:53
2
@Saeed the question is not off topic. What I mean is that it would likely draw answers like "masturbation is not unhealthy", which is not what you ask for. – Shadow Wizard Nov 26 '14 at 22:10
1
well there are some proven facts that ensure that it is unhealthy and advantages are either little or not important comparing to these: 1.It can cause sperm disability which leads to abnormal children. 2.Masturbation makes the penis or dick to get weak when been used in the body of a woman. 3.Masturbation makes a penis to develop too many vein thereby making it unattractive. 4.Masturbation causes infections in females. 5.Masturbation weaken the hormone responsible in producing sperm. 6.Masturbation makes a man moan, suffer and starve for real sex during the period of masturbating. and.. more. – slikkd Nov 27 '14 at 13:58

We don't know your partner sexually, so how can we answer this? – Flimzy Nov 30 '14 at 1:55
@Flimzy while I agree it's not a great question, it can be worded better e.g. "Can I help my partner reach orgasm during the intercourse by talking to her?" which is a fair question in my opinion. – Shadow Wizard Nov 30 '14 at 7:30
@flimzy lol, idk wassup, but if that's what you mean, then nobody can answer a question about sex and intimacy for anybody unless they know the questioner sexually or his/her partner sexually .. or is it that i don't still get it? maybe i don't. i think im goin to opt out. im just loosing reps..lol – Elltz Nov 30 '14 at 14:58
There are ways to ask questions about sex and intimacy that don't make them so intimately personal. "How can can talking during sex positively affect a woman's orgasm?" might be an example. – Flimzy Dec 1 '14 at 0:20

Not me, but it is worded poorly. "get laid" is a slang for one, not something we expect in a Stack Exchange site. Worded properly, this might be a fair question indeed. (e.g. "How can I use sexting/sex talks to get more or better sex?") – Shadow Wizard Nov 23 '14 at 14:44

I think that defining the terms used, us a good use for a question and answer site, and it would be especially useful for this people that didn't have the proper Health classes in High school or whatever class you would learn about these things in. – Malachi Jan 16 '14 at 18:23

According to whom? Why is a dictionary not sufficient? – Flimzy Apr 23 '14 at 2:13
Well, there are some terms that could do with clarification, although I don't think this is one. A better question might be "What is considered 'losing one's virginity' between two girls?", for example, which is a more complex question imo (I'll add it as a proposed question and see if people agree.) – Leo King Sep 18 '14 at 23:32

I am guessing this question is not asking about the speech of female who is not bathed. Which makes it way to broad for an answer. "dirty' is subjective and 'embarrassed' is difficult to assess empirically. – James Jenkins Oct 11 '14 at 9:09

Many (perhaps every) question on this proposal so far isn't a bad question, per se... it's just not a good fit for this site. This one, too. This is a question for a sex therapist. Answering it will require a lot of back-and-forth, along with a period (of perhaps months) of experimentation. There's no possible way to answer this sort of question objectively on a Q&A site. – Flimzy Dec 16 '13 at 20:26
2
@Flimzy A therapist is not an option for everyone. My goal with this proposal was to have a better place to ask such questions than reddit.com/r/sex which is currently the most active sex Q&A forum that I know of, but does not have the benefit of SE's question and answer format. The proposal is failing horribly, likely due to my poor attempt, but that doesn't mean it isn't a good idea. Of course this specific question can be answered objectively. There are a half dozen good potential answers. – Sparr Dec 16 '13 at 23:41
2
@Sparr: I know that a therapist is not an option for everyone. But when a therapist is needed, an objective Q&A site is not a substitute. They fill different needs. I believe many good questions on the topic of sexuality are well suited for this type of site. Although I doubt there are enough to keep the site going (considering we had one go to beta, but was closed after just a couple weeks for lack of content). – Flimzy Dec 17 '13 at 10:06
3
@Flimzy you mean the 'Sexuality' beta? "for educators and professionals to discuss human sexuality"? That's way off base for what I want. I'm looking to ask/answer questions about the act of sex. – Sparr Dec 17 '13 at 17:54
2
@Sparr: Certainly questions about the act of sex were on topic on the previous site. I can't imagine how further narrowing the scope--from one of experts, to one of nearly pure opinion--can help the site succeed. But good luck. – Flimzy Dec 18 '13 at 9:34

I meant like psychological references, like evidence, reports, statistics, etc. – Malachi Feb 25 '14 at 2:27
Either it's the type of site where you get references, or it isn't. I don't believe requesting it on an individual question basis is a good idea / will work (and an example question certainly isn't a place to request it). – Dukeling Jun 8 '14 at 0:25

Sparr you know you can delete bad questions then post new questions... it doesn't have any negative impact and can help the proposal advance faster. :) – Shadow Wizard Dec 4 '14 at 15:34
Keeping bad questions is important for progress of the site. It defines what is out of scope. Deleting them does have a negative impact because it removes the record of the community voice on what is not a good question. – James Jenkins Dec 5 '14 at 11:23

Why is this a bad question? It's specific, closely related to the proposed topic, and there are numerous studies and scientific polls that could be cited for an objective answer. I'm not arguing that the close-voters are wrong, but I'm curious to know the reasoning so I don't suggest similarly flawed questions... – Nerrolken Nov 3 '14 at 23:29
