Someone wanna explain why this got downvoted? .....IINM, most questions on this proposal would either be "What can I do with <tool>?" or "What can I do different for <situation>?" or "Can I use <tool> differently in <situation>?" ....why was this question downvoted? – Shokhet Oct 12 '14 at 0:38
I did not vote, but this question is overly broad. I used to use a screwdriver to start my 1970's cars from under the hood when working on them, A screw driver can also be used as a chisel, a pry bar, and for about 10 million other things. The are unlimted things you can do with any tool, must of the are not-recommend. A tool is the specific solution a problem, you have written this as a solution looking for a problem. – James Jenkins Oct 12 '14 at 10:11

@James Odd, SE didn't notify me about your comment.....you're right, questions like this probably would be too broad, "solution looking for a problem" was a good way to put it. Might as well leave this here to help with "site definition." – Shokhet Oct 13 '14 at 15:48
@James I have just voted to close this question as "not constructive." – Shokhet Oct 13 '14 at 15:58

too open-ended. Probably about 100 possibilities in typical Western house – Donaudampfschifffreizeitfahrt Jan 28 '14 at 11:00

For sure there are some possibilities, just like (for example) some computer programming questions or anything else. But I think it is not a problem here. Only the "best" possibility is expected. Also the fact there is some possibilities make sure the user will find a solution. But I understand your comment and take note of it. Thank you! :) – Sen2228 Jan 29 '14 at 1:40

The fact that there are 100 possible answers doesn't make it a bad question. The question itself is very specific. You might ask how hapless a person would have to be if they couldn't figure out how to get a straight line in a typical Western house but who are we to judge? And if a question on an SE site ended up with 100 answers - so what? – Geoff Pointer Feb 12 '14 at 0:57
