The field of AI is massive. I would be interested as a researcher and practitioner in sub-fields such as computational intelligence, biologically inspired computation, natural computation and intelligent agents. But where do you draw the line, surely a Q/A site on AI has to subsume topics such as robotics, machine learning and theoretical computer science concerns (logic, etc) – jasonb Jun 28 '10 at 6:53

I disagree, I think that some very basic questions such as what is a neural network and what is path finding have a home here as it would help people who are completely new to the concepts discussed here. – Neel Jul 13 '10 at 12:05

I also think that even basic questions should have place in the community. And also, who would decide if a question is too basic or too generic so that it couldn't be posted here? It's an absolutely subjective answer. I think that a question like that is simple to answer and would help a lot of people. – Berne Jul 13 '10 at 15:45

I agree with @forefinger...the example questions should be about the subject matter. This kind of question could be asked on any site, so it doesn't help to differentiate this one from others. – Shane Jul 9 '10 at 17:38

This question is high-level, although appropriate for the AI researcher.
