It's so broad I doubt even an article can handle this, a book maybe – Donaudampfschifffreizeitfahrt Jan 9 '15 at 9:35
Pragmatics is part of meaning. – curiousdannii Mar 6 '15 at 15:17
@curiousdannii Are you suggesting a reformulation of the question? "How does the word order of a sentence affect its meaning?" – Earthliŋ Mar 6 '15 at 16:07
@Earthliŋ Sure that would be better. It's still likely to be very broad though, so perhaps specifics like the role of fronting etc could be asked. – curiousdannii Mar 6 '15 at 21:48
@curiousdannii I changed the wording. Why don't you post a more specific question about fronting? We can always use more good sample questions. – Earthliŋ Mar 6 '15 at 21:54

I don’t think this is a typical question. It’s extremely broad, and it’s the first question that many people ask when they hear that Latin remained in use into modern times. – Ben Kovitz Jan 21 '15 at 8:28

I don't think we should be asking questions in Latin, if only because this place seems more like a place for people to learn the language, rather than a place where you already know it. – QPaysTaxes Jan 21 '15 at 13:18

Actually, I'm thinking that questions in Latin are the best for learning Latin. This question is from someone just starting to learn Latin (namely me), and refers to a textbook for total beginners written entirely in Latin. I've posted a discussion question to hear more about what should be our policy toward questions in Latin. – Ben Kovitz Jan 22 '15 at 19:24

@QPaysTaxes As Ben Kovitz said, this is being discussed here. Generally, SX language sites are for people who already know the language and want to discuss its "finer points". We (at least I) do not want a self-help group of beginners. We do want real experts to conduct the site (and help answer questions of beginners to help bring them up to the level of real experts). – Earthliŋ Jan 23 '15 at 12:28
Most Latin scholars, as far as I know, discuss the language in their native language, not in Latin, since Latin is "dead." It seems we ought to do the same. – Flimzy May 4 '15 at 18:09
@Flimzy Some serious Latin scholars are running immersion programs like this and this, because they believe that you only really learn the language by communicating in it. If you'd like to hash this out in more depth, please post to this thread. – Ben Kovitz May 18 '15 at 7:29
