closed as duplicate of How can you get {nutrient} following a Vegan diet? by Robert Cartaino Jul 8 '16 at 18:55

This question covers exactly the same ground as another question in this proposal.

This proposal is about to undergo a final review, so for the purpose of defining the scope of this proposal, pruning out closely-related questions helps assure we have a sufficient breadth of subject matter to actually create this site. – Robert Cartaino Jul 8 '16 at 18:55

I thinking any question starting of with "Do some vegans/vegetarians do X" will always be answered with "Yes." (There's always someone) For example, all vegans/vegetarians I know do this. I upvoted because the "why" question is important. – Azor-Ahai Apr 3 '16 at 23:47

As a vegan, what do I have to consider when buying makeup and personal hygiene products?
added by cellu Mar 3 '16 at 22:46

2
This is a "boat programming" question. Consider changing it to ask something specific to veganism, not something unspecific with the addition of "as a vegan". It does not make it automatically on-topic. – Sklivvz May 18 '16 at 13:22

Can a vegan take a pregnancy test?
added by TreeHouse196 Feb 7 '16 at 23:39
link
3
To clarify why this is relevant, home pregnancy tests use antibodies produced from animals by injecting them with the protein being tested for (hCG) and then isolating the antibodies from the blood. – TreeHouse196 Feb 7 '16 at 23:41
11
A better version might be "is there such a thing as a vegan pregnancy test" – Erica Feb 25 '16 at 1:56

How do you call an almost vegetarian diet that includes honey and insects, but excludes milk and eggs?
added by Crissov Feb 26 '16 at 13:08

3
This is not constructive because a diet with insects is not vegetarian. So it will end either with infinite debate or the OP beeing flamed. – niahoo Apr 15 '16 at 14:55

@niahoo I’ve added ‘almost’ to the question. – Crissov Apr 24 '16 at 11:48

Very interesting question: remember that the vegan choice involves avoiding all animal derived products, such as leather, whool.. but often animal byproducts are used in many unbelievable things, like beer for example. And contraceptives as well! – Attilio Sep 6 '16 at 0:36

This question is not a good fit to our Q&A format. We expect answers to generally involve facts, references, or specific expertise; this question will likely solicit opinion, debate, arguments, polling, or extended discussion.

1
Pretty opinion-basd, no? – AAM111 Jan 5 '16 at 12:45
4
This might be more useful if it was reformed to something like "What ethical concerns are there with eating meat from organic farming?" – SuperBiasedMan Jan 14 '16 at 10:25
7
I think this question would be fine if asked/answered from a purely health/environmental perspective – dsgriffin Jan 15 '16 at 15:11
@daniel That was the intention. I know that opinion based questions are off-topic. – wythagoras Apr 26 '16 at 19:37
2
I don't understand the premise of this question. Why would someone eat meat from organic farming instead of being vegetarian? – Azor-Ahai Apr 30 '16 at 8:00

Would this be anything but opinion based? This often seems to be a matter of personal choice. There can be useful information to explain (eg. why Beekeepers can be seen as ethical farmers). The answer may end up being "Maybe/it depends". – SuperBiasedMan Jan 14 '16 at 10:24
I'm not sure they'd allow anything regarding ethics here (they've closed similar proposals before because of ethical-related questions) - the proposal is purely from the dietary/health/environmental perspectives. I would imagine this would be a vegan dietary-related question and therefore the answer would be 'no' and then explaining why it isn't – dsgriffin Jan 14 '16 at 10:27
2
@null Curious, why were ethical ones disallowed? Too vague and subjective? There are multiple religion based sites so I'm not sure what specifically distinguishes dietary ethics from those. – SuperBiasedMan Jan 20 '16 at 12:39
2
@SuperBiasedMan Funny you mention the religion-based sites. There is a strong correlation between this proposal and how those site are administered. Pure ethics may not be on topic here, but these questions can almost always be answered in the context of "conventional practices" of veganism itself. See my answer here: Should ethics be allowed? — discuss.area51.stackexchange.com/a/22809/5 – Robert Cartaino Feb 3 '16 at 18:34
2
@SuperBiasedMan, this was an issue on the last attempt to such a stackexchange site and I still don't see the problem. Whether a food is vegan or not is an entirely objective question, it depends on whether animal products are used in the process (so no, honey is not vegan). Whether it's ethical to consume honey is a related, but different, opinion-based question (but i.m.o. an interesting one). – Turion May 12 '16 at 8:56
