Will [IoT device] still be usable when the manufacturer switches off the cloud services it relies on?

While relevant to the field, unless you get an answer from an actual dev on the project this will be a guess at best which wouldn't make sense to have on the site. It is also not unheard of for EOL product plans to change drastically like with the TCP smart lightbulbs consumerist.com/2016/08/19/…. – Dom Aug 23 '16 at 0:24

It's difficult to tell what is being asked here. This question is ambiguous, vague, incomplete, overly broad, or rhetorical and cannot be reasonably answered in its current form.

There's no need for an "Intranet of Things" as IoT is not specific to "The Internet", but identifies a "Web" of interconnected things. – tbm0115 Aug 24 '16 at 15:38

This question isn't useful. Each protocol and each revision of the protocol uses different hardware and outside the normal components you would find in any device they don't overlap. – Dom Jul 14 '16 at 2:40

This question does not relate to the topic of the proposal.

The relationship of this question to the subject of IoT is merely coincidental. Discussing trends in venture capital would not be on topic for this site. – Robert Cartaino Jun 13 '16 at 17:47

That really doesn't make any sense. The data is realtime from whatever the sensors are so if that can be copyrighted there are much bigger issues... – Dom Jul 22 '16 at 20:37
