A smart TV is not an IoT device. Just because a device can receive data from the Internet doesn't make it an IoT device. Troubleshooting TV firmware seems off-topic to me. – ColleenV Mar 10 '16 at 18:21

While relevant to the field, unless you get an answer from an actual dev on the project this will be a guess at best which wouldn't make sense to have on the site. It is also not unheard of for EOL product plans to change drastically like with the TCP smart lightbulbs consumerist.com/2016/08/19/…. – Dom Aug 23 '16 at 0:24

@gerrit yes, because many cars receive update via the Internet. Electric cars from Tesla, for example, recently had some press about online updates which caused the car to not be able to drive for a few hours. – Philipp Jan 26 '16 at 16:10

@DJClayworth Of course they aren't. No questions posted during the definition phase of a proposal are real questions. The purpose of the definition phase is to find examples for hypothetical questions which could be asked on such a site and vote on whether or not such questions would fit its intended purpose. – Philipp Jan 7 '16 at 11:24

Proposals are tailored to the questions posted, and if the examples are not ones that people actually want to ask, then the proposal will be tailored to question that people don't actually want to ask. if you are unclear about why this is the case please start a discussion. – DJClayworth Jan 7 '16 at 14:18
