I recently dug up some old C64 disks I used back in the day. Is there a way to dump and archive them?

@robc You might want to mention what hardware do you currently have, that will help to suggest possible options. – Kuba Tyszko Jan 21 '16 at 22:51

Where can I source a modern power supply for my ZX Spectrum?
added by LaceySnr Jan 12 '16 at 1:53

This is appropriate for stackexchange? You have to ask yes/no questions. Asking a "best" question means it's up-to-someone's opinion and if you agree with it or not. For example in this one, it would be people giving you links to suppliers or something. – Thraka Jan 14 '16 at 2:16

Questions do not have to be yes/no, just definitive. This would potentially be open to store spam, but it's a legit question and has some specific, correct asnwers. – LaceySnr Jan 14 '16 at 3:41
Meta threads on yes/no questions: meta.stackexchange.com/questions/155562/… and meta.stackexchange.com/questions/161766/… - specifically: where is there such a policy on "You have to ask yes/no questions"? – Jaz-Michael King Jan 14 '16 at 18:24

Can we please not to be so strict on form of the question? I saw number of questions questioned for the same "not being yes/no", while they are perfectly typical struggles of retro-hardware owner. Please try to understand that. I agree, that this particular one may lead to advertisement links, but OTOH I would hint with power supply spec (voltage, amp rating, plug size and polarity), and encourage to find something that will fit. – Tomek Cejner Jan 15 '16 at 7:30

ditto. with retro hardware we are bound to have more and more of such questions - "how can I fix this/that", "where to find this or that". I know we may all be old grumpy guys in our 30-40's (most accurate estimate of "retro" users as the computers in question would have been our "firsts") - let's remember that we're trying to get the group established first. we can be strict and cranky later ;) – Kuba Tyszko Jan 17 '16 at 2:00

clarify non-standard format. PC may be able to read some but not others. It definitely cannot read Amiga for example. – Kuba Tyszko Jan 21 '16 at 23:05

How do I repair a ZX Spectrum's main board?

This question is too vague and open-ended. It invites a tutorial on repairing low-density through-hole microprocessor boards, but nothing about that is specific to the ZX Spectrum. A better question is to ask how to fix a specific fault, e.g. "How do I get rid of the vertical stripes on a ZX Spectrum display?" – Peter Corlett Jan 16 '16 at 14:07

But as a rule this "kind" of question could be asked (with more specific details of course), so it should be OK here just for reference. – user3169 Feb 22 '16 at 1:59

Many people don't like the "best" questions - maybe you should ask "what are the solid storage options for ZX and their advantages/disadvantages?" – Kuba Tyszko Jan 24 '16 at 2:45
