Who created and launched Monero? [closed]

closed as duplicate of Who is the company behind Monero, and how was it funded? by Robert Cartaino May 18 '16 at 19:08

This question covers exactly the same ground as another question in this proposal.

Not really; Monero wasn't started by a company, nor is it funded by one, so that question covers different ground. This question is focused specifically on the origin (ie. the CryptoNote whitepaper -> implementation) and the launch (ie. the BCN -> XMR fair launch). – fluffyponyza May 18 '16 at 19:21

How many Monero users speak the Esperanto language? [closed]

closed as off topic by Robert Cartaino May 18 '16 at 16:01

This question does not relate to the topic of the proposal.

I don't understand how this question relates to Monero. Is there something about Esperanto that would make it conclusive to Monero? – Philip Kirkbride May 18 '16 at 1:16

This question is clearly off-topic – Caribou May 18 '16 at 4:02

Monero itself is an Esperanto term meaning "coin" and some Monero users have expressed and interest in learning the language where that name originated. weuse.cash/esperanto-corner – Javier May 18 '16 at 4:41

This is similar to "the favorite soft drink of programmers" problem. While this question mentions "Monero", the relationship of this question to the *subject* of Monero is coincidental at best. I would close this as off topic on the actual site, so I have done the same thing here. – Robert Cartaino May 18 '16 at 16:01

Esperanto speakers would be attracted to Monero because Monero is an Esperanto word, right? But at the same time, the connection is not entirely relevant to Monero itself. Thus, I support Robert Cartaino in his closure of the question as off-topic. – fluffyponyza May 18 '16 at 18:25

Is the Monero donation model sufficient to ensure long term software development and support? [closed]

closed as duplicate of Is the biggest threat to Monero likely to be related to funding, cryptography, or market adoption? by Robert Cartaino May 18 '16 at 19:11

This question covers exactly the same ground as another question in this proposal.

I'm afraid I have to disagree with you here. The Monero donation model is extremely specific (per-project funding via the FFS crowdfunding subsystem, paid out on a per-milestone basis). This question is asking whether that model is sustainable in the long run. The other question, on the other hand, refers to a "threat", which would typically be referring to something that would lead to the downfall of a system. That question may touch on prospective failures of the FFS, but is not exclusively about that. – fluffyponyza May 18 '16 at 19:26

Technically you may be correct (you can certainly argue those nuances when the site launches) — but for the purpose of defining the scope of this proposal, pruning out closely-related questions helps assure we have a sufficient breadth of subject matter to actually create this site. This proposal is about to undergo a final review. I felt this "duplicate" did not add significantly over what has already been asked, so I am only trying to present the strongest possible case for launching this site. – Robert Cartaino May 18 '16 at 19:42
