Having evolved from data entry to database admin to database building (for a very trusting employer),I'm sloooooowly teaching myself database design and coding. My main asset is stubbornness - I'm pretty relentless when it comes to rigorous problem-solving.
I've started in Access/VBA; a great entry-level intro to common db concepts, but intend to expand to web-based apps.
Currently, I'm enrolled in a masters degree in Digital Cultures and Communication, an inter-disciplinary degree that combines the schools of IT with the Humanities to interrogate the possibilities of networked societies.
If my technical skills are currently limited, my interests are broad: information architecture, UX, gaming, design theories, digital preservation...
My current day job as executive research analyst for an education authority is a pretty great convergence of my interests. I'm a lucky girl!
